What’s the difference:

Mental Health Evaluation or Psychological Evaluation?

A Mental Health Evaluation is equivalent to a Psychological Evaluation but is done by professionals that are not Psychologists. Psychologists have patented the word psychological so no other mental health profession may use the word psychological for any work performed. At New Beginnings Evaluations, we provide Forensic evaluations, including court ordered Mental Health Evaluations. These may include administration of the PAI or MMPI which is typically part of a psychological evaluation.

Mental Health Evaluation Process

  • 1.) Orientation

The purpose of the mental health evaluation will be established. Required paperwork, documentation, and the process will be explained during the orientation. Fee agreements will be explained during this 40-minute window.

  • 2.) Interview

80-minute interview - the mental health evaluator will discuss the purpose of the mental health evaluation and will explore historical and extenuating circumstances that may hold merit.

  • 3.) Psychometric Testing

During this phase, the MMPI or PAI will be administered. This will take place during a pre-scheduled, 2-hour block.

Three psychometric “standard of care” tests, including:

    • PAI

    • SASSI-4

    • Specific Test for court ordered issue

  • 4.) Data Review

All data, including biopsychosocial, documentation, and psychometric testing will be forensically analyzed as part of the mental health evaluation

•School records (if applicable) • Medical records • Background Report • Any Police Reports • Mental Health Records • Completed Court Ordered Certificates • Release of Information

  • 5.) Written Mental Health Evaluation

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
